Our Purpose

MINOI aims to support teachers to create learning experiences that integrate movement, language and culture. It provides practical ideas that can be adapted to different early learning settings. The resource supports teachers to intentionally teach and strengthen fundamental movement skills through play-based learning. The activities can be adapted for infants, toddlers and young children.

Our Vision & Values
Everything we do is guided by who we are and what we stand for. Our vision is for children to become confident communicators and cultural learners. Through MINOI, children learn that movement, language and culture belong together. Children are encouraged to explore, imagine, create and express themselves through movement. Learning becomes meaningful when children can connect experiences to their own language, identity and family stories.

Cultural Foundations

MINOI is grounded in Sāmoan values and ways of knowing. Culture is not an add-on to learning, culture is the foundation of learning. Children's cultural identities should be visible, valued and celebrated everyday. Teachers are encouraged to work closely with families and communities to ensure cultural authenticity.
